| "Grandfather,
look at our brokenness. We know that in all Creation only the human family has strayed
from the Sacred Way." ~ Ojibway Prayer
It is vitally important that one consider the spiritual plane when
beginning anything connected to the improvement of health and life. We
can't emphasize enough the importance of approaching dietary and
lifestyle improvements with a sense of ease, joy, and comfort.
If one feels imprisoned when following a dietary regime, if one feels
deprived and angry, then the diet is going too far, too soon. We never
use the word "strict" at Chakra17
- the one thing we never want is to feel restricted. This is not the
Marines! Nor should you ever feel locked into some sort of food prison.
Remember, the reason to pursue (what we refer to
as) radical vegetarianism or deep tissue cleansing is to create the very
energy, self-love, inner power, beauty and fire to live life to it's
fullest and most fulfilling. The motivation must be to optimize
health so that you may go out and "hitch your wagon to star,"
in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, with great physical strength and
maximum levels of happiness and contentment.
Sadly, on occasion, we see people who make the process their entire
life's focus. They go into health food stores with pad and paper, write
down every word at every lecture, analyze everything they ever eat. This
is not where we want to go - in fact, this is exactly what we try to
steer people away from. In and of itself a health regime is useless. Its
function comes in allowing us to feel more human. To feel optimum. To
feel so in love with our life and the world in general that we can do
nothing but go out and achieve and communicate and love. We stress to
everyone that a health regimen is useless if it
becomes manic, obsessive, limiting, or resented. It must be done
with balance and seen as a means to a better, fuller life.
On an intellectual plane, it's very important for people to read and
research. We don't want and certainly don't expect people to blindly
take our word. These concepts of diet and cleansing are fundamentally
different from those by which most people currently live, so when
problems come up, it's a wonderful tool for people to have taken the
initiative to educate themselves and understand on their own what's
occurring in their bodies. At Chakra17, we
seek to empower our clients, for we do not heal - rather, we simply give
people the means and methodology to heal themselves.
